About
Sick of their old lives in Boise, Idaho, David and his family moved to South Park, Colorado upon the opening of a new Whole Foods store - these Mexicans were actually staying, and soon opened a restaraunt, Nueva Familia, where David was a busboy. He joined South Park Elementary as a new kid soon as well, and forged a rivalry with Yelp critic Eric Cartman, who didn't approve of his family's restaurant. He was later accidentally shot during a game of ninja by a very distracted Officer Barbrady, ending his tenure as a police officer.
Memorable Quotes
- "SÃ, me ride me teeny bicicleta to school." (You're Not Yelping)
- "I'm gonna show this prick how we do things in Boise!" (You're Not Yelping)
Family
David is close to both of his parents and works with them as a busboy in their restaurant, Nueva Familia.
No word if he's related to classmate Jessica Rodriguez.
Close Friends
Kyle helped show David around South Park Elementary on his first day at school and stood with him against the Angry Yelpers, despite a misunderstanding on Idaho. He eventually befriends the rest of the 4th Graders.
Rivals
When his family's business is threatened, David is forced to submit, but ultimately he is one of only a handful of kids known to have stood up to Cartman directly, calling him out on television.

Bonus Factoids
- David first appears in Mexico in "The Last of the Meeheecans" as a background character, and then as a Syrian refugee in "Stunning and Brave" and his mom is one of the pregnant Mexican women.
- He and his family finally debut at the end of "The City Part of Town" in a cameo, referenced by Eric Cartman, that ties right into their proper debut in "You're Not Yelping".
- His first name was originally Teelez in scripts, but he was named on-screen as David Rodriguez in "Naughty Ninjas".
- A few fans believe that David Rodriguez was heavily inspired by Erik Estrada's character Marco (who was also Latino) from Sealab 2021, a show from Adult Swim that has many similarities to South Park.
